What Are Crowns and Bridges?

Dental crowns are custom-made, tooth-shaped caps placed over damaged teeth to restore their shape, size, strength, and appearance. Dental bridges, on the other hand, are used to fill the gap left by one or more missing teeth by anchoring artificial teeth between two crowns.

How Are Crowns and Bridges Placed?

Crowns are typically recommended for teeth that are broken, decayed, or weakened. The affected tooth is reshaped and any decay is removed. A crown is then placed over the reshaped tooth and cemented into position, acting like a protective cap.

Bridges are used to replace missing teeth. They consist of one or more artificial teeth held in place by crowns on the adjacent natural teeth. These crowns are fitted over the teeth on either side of the gap, and the entire structure is bonded securely. Once placed, bridges restore the natural look and function of your smile.
